The Chris Mitchell Foundation officially launched on Saturday 2nd September with a charity fundraising race night held at Stirling County Rugby Club.
This was a huge success for the foundation and we are delighted to announce that the final figure raised came to £6534.48! The event included a 2-part race night, raffle, auction of Kante and Mahrez football shirts, guest speakers and more.
A special thanks goes to Iain Russell (former team mate and friend of Chris’), Mark Fleming (from Positive Mental Health Scotland), and Michael Bennett (head of player welfare) from the PFA for providing excellent speeches on the night.
We have received an incredible amount of support throughout the launch so far and would like to express our thanks for their support and generosity. A special thanks to Stirling County Rugby Club (venue), Jintz Express (catering), Let’s Party (balloons and decorations), Dave at the Magic Agency (race host) and the many, many more businesses and individuals who kindly donated amazing raffle prizes and helping us on the night to make it the best launch we could!
We hope everyone who attended the evening enjoyed themselves and were able to celebrate and remember Chris.
The monies raised from the night will be used to fund club reps from Scottish football clubs who wish to take the NHS Scotland Mental Health First Aid Course. We believe that this will help raise awareness in poor mental health and wellbeing within Scottish football and encourage players to speak up. Mental Health first aiders will learn the skills to recognise signs and symptoms of poor mental health and assist them to the help they require.
