This year’s Stirling Scottish Marathon on Sunday 29 April 2018 was an incredible day, despite the odd rain shower. All seven of our runners completed the marathon and half marathon in fantastic times, but most importantly they remained injury free! We now have the official total raised from this year’s Stirling Scottish Marathon and Half Marathon and it is quite unbelievable. Between them, our seven runners have raised a whopping £4,401. We would like to say a massive thank you to Kevin Harrold, Kieran McAllister, James Halsall, David Galt, Dale Fulton, Josh McCallum and Laurie McMaster for supporting the foundation and taking on such an impressive challenge https://apotheke-zag.de/. Thanks also to everyone that donated, contributing to this fantastic total. As part of Mental Health Awareness Week we thought it only fitting to share this outstanding short documentary created by University of Stirling students Adi Aslam, Jack Haggerty, Kieran McAllister, Eva Prikler and Christopher Stuart. Over the past few months the Chris Mitchell Foundation has been working with the team and on the evening of Friday 20 April we had the privilege of joining the team and their families to view the final production. The film focuses on the need for parity in both physical and mental health. Something here at the Chris Mitchell Foundation we are striving to change within Scottish football. It was an honour to work with you all and we wish you all the very best in the future.
Today we were at Falkirk Football Club to meet with Mark Jeruzal from the Equity Bairns and a few others to hand over two signed tops as part of the auction prizes and get pictures with the proud owners of a few of the other auction items. The auction has raised an incredible total of £2,315. Everyone at the Chris Mitchell Foundation is extremely humbled by this gesture and we would like to thank the Equity Bairns for donating the following auction items and also Gordon Cameron and Gordon Profit for donating the Ajax tie and Falkirk Football Club Cup Winners glass decanter: Peter Grant Football Shirt Rory Loys Football Shirt Joe McKees Football Shirt Alex Jakubiaks Football Shirt Alex Jakubiaks Football Boots Ajax Team Tie Falkirk Football Club Cup Winners Decanter Also, a huge thank you to everyone that bid for the items and those that ultimately won. On Saturday evening two of our trustees, Philip Mitchell and Louise Rooney, attended the Scottish Senior Football Referees Association (SSFRA) dinner at Hampden Park. The evening celebrated the appointment of the refereeing team for this weekend’s Scottish Cup Final. The evening was hosted by Paul Tanner and involved a Q&A with Chic Charnley and Pat Nevin. The SSFRA chose the Chris Mitchell Foundation as the recipients of the funds raised from this year’s dinner, including a red/yellow card game and online silent auction. Chris was a familiar face to many of those in the room on Saturday evening and in their own words they ‘had the pleasure of refereeing Chris many times during his career’ and he was a ‘credit to you all.’ We are very grateful to say that the SSFRA raised an astonishing £2,500 for the Chris Mitchell Foundation. This sum of money will be a huge boost towards the work that we have planned for the 2018/19 season.
